(UPDATED With Photos) Summary of All Star Wars Related News from Disney’s D23 Expo.

Although Star Wars Episode 7 is in it’s early stages of development, many fans expected to hear some real news and announcements about their favorite movie at Disney’s “Magic” event. Instead we got some already known facts reconfirmed and few hints at Star Wars: Rebels and Disneyland…

First in Friday Disney CEO Bob Iger was very quick to shoot down any fan hopes for Star Wars news:
“Now I know both from my own instinct, and from the applause that I heard earlier, that there are a lot of Star Wars fans out there. Now we’re just as excited as you are about Star Wars: Episode VII. In fact, we’re speechless. At least we’re going to be somewhat speechless at this Expo because we aren’t ready to share some of the details with you just yet. But trust me, it’s going to be fantastic. Come on, Star Wars and Disney together. How could it not be fantastic?”

Then in Saturday morning fans were still hoping to hear some news during Disney’s live-action slate presentation. Disney’s Chairman Alan Horn took the stage and welcomed Lucasfilm to the Disney family, under huge applause. Then he shared the already known facts about the film’s release date (summer 2015) and director before saying:

“I do wish I could tell you more, but…there are dark forces. And they are watching.”

And that’s it. That’s all the Episode 7 news from the long awaited Disney’s event. Still there’s one day left and there’s a slight chance that they could saved something for the end but the chances are slim.

Still there were few hints about the upcoming Star Wars animation series Star Wars: Rebels and what will be the future presence of Star Wars in Disneyland.

 From /Film:

At the Crash Course in the Force event, Lucasfilm’s Star Wars expert Pablo Hidalgo took Disney fans through the cultural history of Star Wars as a way to introduce them to their new $4 billion toy.

Then, at the end, fans got their hands on him. Hidalgo was very adamant that he couldn’t talk about any new projects, but he did hint at two possible developments, both on TV and in theme parks.

Hidalgo suggested that, despite the well-known state of the Jedi between Episodes III and IV, we might get some kind of Jedi influence in the upcoming animated TV series Star Wars: Rebels. He also hinted that, maybe, that Imagineering project could be at Disneyland and not Walt Disney World.

A fan asked Hidalgo when Rebels takes places, and he said what we already knew – the Disney XD show will take place between Episode III and IV. The fan then followed up. Will there be Jedi in the show? Star Wars fans know that, between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, there are only two grown Jedi, Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi. The rest are all dead, or being hunted and eventually killed. Hidalgo pointed to that as a possible answer, then added a however. He said the Jedi always cast a long shadow on the galaxy and maybe that would effect what happens in Rebels. So, though we might not see Yoda or Obi-Wan, they might have some kind of influence.

Later, a fan asked if there would ever be Star Wars Weekend at Disneyland. (Quick backstory: Star Wars Weekends is a Lucasfilm sponsored event that takes place at Walt Disney World in Florida). Hidalgo said he didn’t have an answer to that, but was pretty sure the presence of Star Wars in Disneyland would be increased in the future. What exactly does that mean? Who knows. But that Imagineering presentation on the show floor might be a hint.

Looking forward to the Expo’s closing ceremony. You never know, there is always hope…
