Mark Hamill Training for Star Wars: Episode 7?

This rumor comes from Mark Hamill’s friend and former roommate Robert Englund, who is best known for playing Freddy Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm Street series…

From Comic Book:

While appearing at the Nashville Comic Expo, Robert Englund talked about how both he and Hamill have done a lot of voice work for animation. He also let slip out a big secret in regards to exactly what Hamill is up to currently. “Mark now—they’ve got Mark in the gym, because Mark’s coming back as Luke Skywalker. They’ve got him doing his sit ups,” said Englund.

This story fits with the rumor from few months ago about personal trainers being hired for the Big Three.

Personally I have no doubts that some or all three of them will appear in Episode 7. Remember what George Lucas said to businessweek.com back in march?

Asked whether members of the original Star Wars cast will appear in Episode VII and if he called them before the deal closed to keep them informed, Lucas says, “We had already signed Mark and Carrie and Harrison—or we were pretty much in final stages of negotiation. So I called them to say, ‘Look, this is what’s going on.’ ” He pauses. “Maybe I’m not supposed to say that. I think they want to announce that with some big whoop-de-do, but we were negotiating with them.” Then he adds: “I won’t say whether the negotiations were successful or not.”

Of course things could change but I still trust good old George. 🙂

I think it’s pretty much a given at this point. I hope narratively speaking it not only fits… but is awesome.

I worry the old boys and girls may not be able to pull it off… but here’s hoping it all works out.

I can not think of any other movie in history… that I’m more excited to see a trailer for than this.

I wonder if they put Alec Guiness through this kind of training for his role as Obi-Wan.

Doubtful (maybe a little bit with sabre training)…he was never really obese or overweight though and his character didn’t do anything too physical throughout the 3 movies. He was in his 60s, more than capable of jogging a few steps here and there.

I’m not saying Mark or Carrie will do much of anything physical, but they have struggled and let themselves go a bit, so it seems logical to get them back to greatness! I’m sure they suggested the trainers as well.

I had asked before how it was known that Mark had a personal trainer
bought & paid for by Disney for him make use of.
Now I know how it was known.

That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard of in my life!
Just why would Akec Guiness have to use a trainer?
    His character’s bodytype is that.
There was no SW before SW4, so nobody said:
Wow, look how different Alec Guiness looks from the previous SW movies!
If he were in SW7 & gained a ton of weight,
then he would need a trainer.
    Dope ….

If they are building up the Millennium Falcon, then I think we can rest assured that Han Solo & Chewbacca will be back. & if they are back then Luke & Leia will also be back 🙂 & Lucas has stated long ago that episode 7 would be about an elderly Luke training Jedi & passing on the torch, having an Obi Wan type role… -I sure do hope they tell Mark to grow a beard, that would make him look alot wiser i think

That’s interesting info about Robert Englund being he was responsible for informing Mark Hamill about casting for Star Wars back in 1975.

Having the Millenium Falcon back again might be okay, though I’d want to see it have some additional “special modifications” that would give it a slight different appearance.

Anyone who works on hot rods knows, the work on a true hot rod never ends. You’re always tinkering with it and making upgrades. The Falcon should be no different.
