I just hope they announce something FINALLY on the 4th

True Star Wars fans know that the real Star Wars Day is on May 25th, the date of the release of the first film; Star Wars’ birthday.

May 4th has no meaning, other than being a stupid pun.

And being internationally recognized. It’s all in good fun, no need to get all butthurt about it, Anon. I too celebrate the 25th being the birth of Star Wars, but that doesn’t mean I’m some kind of heritic for watching the trilogy with my friends and saying “May the Fourth Be With You.”
It’s not for you to say what it takes to be a true Star Wars fan; just define it for yourself rather than others.

I realised there is no such thing as a true star wars fan…
there is only Star Wars fan.

If you’re a fan of anything Star Wars, by definition that makes you a Star Wars fan. There’s no absolute truth involved besides that simple fact.

      Talk about nerd-nit-picking . . . LOL I’m a “True Star Wars fan” and I don’t celebrate May 25th OMGZ!!!!

Since Disney really seems to be pushing May the 4th hard and it works btw — last year the peeps I know had fun with it — I could see Disney releasing the casting “news” on May 4th even though it’s a Sunday and news usually isn’t released on the weekend. I wouldn’t be surprised if they somehow released a special little video on the official site or something.

@beerdawg21, what in the hell are you criticizing him for? You go to this site expecting to find Star Wars VIi news and instead get NONE. I find that tiresome. Don’t blame people for expressing their frustration with Disney and J J Abrams for being tight-lipped.

“Addressed the anonymous that addressed beerdawg21” The anonymous shouldn’t be spaming the in the comments on every news article. Its not really acceptable to frustrate other people by spaming the same thing over & over even if he’s suffering from frustration himself.

bring back anakin skywalker in some way (force ghost?) The saga was really about his rise and fall, he was the main protagonist. Bring him back.

umm wtf? You said it yourself “The saga was really about his rise and fall.” That story has been told. Let’s explore and develop the saga further please. Why retell the same story and bring back the character’s story when it’s already told?

    • April 28, 2014 at 11:27 pm
      Permalink

Anon @ 9:35 PM not bringing him back or making him the main focus of the ST demonstrates that the episodic movies are bigger than him – which they should be.

    • April 29, 2014 at 1:21 am
      Permalink

      @anon 9:50,

Ok, I meant to say, anakin’s rise, his fall, and his REDEMPTION. Let us not forget that the Empire did not go away because the emperor died. And whose ghost appeared in the second to last scene of Episode VI? Oh, that’s right, Anakin Skywalker.

If I was Luke I would love to have the spiritual guidance of the most powerful jedi of all times.

    • April 29, 2014 at 7:40 am
      Permalink

Since Anakin in some form has been in each and every movie so far, he should indeed have some kind of presence in the sequel trilogy as well. It was established at the end of Jedi that he can appear as a Force ghost. If some person in the sequels feels the pull of the Dark Side, none would be better qualified than Anakin to warn him/her about the dangers of giving in.

If Anakin (who would, after all, have to be Hayden Christensen) were to intereact directly with Luke, I wonder about the overall effect. Would some in the audience find it silly if a 60-something Mark Hamill adresses an obviously much younger actor and yet refers to him as his father?

Or might Anakin opt to appear in Vader form, not because he has reverted to being evil, but as a warning about the price of evil?

Disney will release information when the time is right. Not because some random Star Wars fan tweets a rumor. Not because a date has historical meaning. Not because fans are obsessing over the “need to know”.

THANK YOU RYAN. the chances of getting a cast announcement on may the fourth is so slim. They will release huge information such as casting when it’s right, not because some day on the calendar rhymes with “may the force”. They will use that day to flog stuff like lego games and probably Rebels stuff. You all have much to learn young ones when it comes to PR.
