Fisher, Ford, Hamill and Mayhew Return Home for the Scheduled 2 Week Hiatus?
The SDCC is just around the corner. The convention starts tomorrow and it looks like many of the cast members are returning to their US homes for a deserved break…
First here’s an interesting report from JediNews:
Interesting news comes from Pinewood as we have it on very good word that Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Peter Mayhew have returned home to the States while Harrison Ford continues his rehabilitation from his 12th June accident.
We understand that this is the reason why Mayhew pulled out of his appearance at London Film and Comic Con (although Carrie Fisher still agreed to appear).
And thanks to DailyMail now we have a confirmation that Harrison Ford is also back in the States (LA).
Breaking his ankle at the age of 72, Harrison Ford could be forgiven for wanting to take it easy.
But it appears the actor is determined his injury won’t affect his independence as he was spotted hobbling on to his private jet.
Although wife Calista Flockhart and their son Liam was nearby, the veteran actor was determined to carry some items himself, including a bottle of wine and piece of paper while making his way up the stairs to the plane.
Harrison is still able to drive as he arrived at the airport with wife Calista Flockhart and their son Liam.
One of our sources confirmed that this break is most likely the mentioned by Lucasfilm 2 week hiatus that was supposed to happen in August:
In August, the team will take a brief two-week hiatus while adjustments to the current production schedule are made as actor Harrison Ford recovers from a leg injury. Harrison is doing well and is looking forward to returning to the set soon. Shooting remains on track to wrap in the fall with the film scheduled for release on December 18, 2015.
Maybe they decided to moved it earlier because of the SDCC or for another unknown reason.

Enjoy your well-deserved break, guys. 😀
Ford already had his “break”, though it was not “well-deserved”. 😉
Any word on Harrison suing for damages?
I dont understand how he can drive with his foot damaged…!
Looks like its his left leg that is broken, so you can still drive with the right leg. I had a broken toe on my left foot, and still was able to drive.
I have to say I’m impressed with Harrison Ford, as this broken leg could have given him an excuse to bail on Han Solo altogether. The guy is a professional and he is doing his best to be just as much on screen as he did before the injury.
I, too, have broken my leg and was able to drive just fine. You would have to be driving an automatic, but you could still drive.
He’s part of a dying breed.
I have to wonder if the American actors are going to meet to discuss the movie during the hiatus. Hasn’t Ford been in the U.K. up until now?
Think bigger – think SDCC!
Why would they, even Hamil said the feeling on ROTJ was like let’s get this over with!
Publicity! Massive publicity – it’a win-win situation for Disney.
Disney’s new Iphone game, How many times can Ford hop.
No disrespect Mr. Ford. 🙂
VH – I think you’re on the money.
SW7 A-List cast members turning up at the Disney booth will steal the show. Hell, it’ll dominate the internet blogs and fan sites completely.
Harrison’s leg is supposed to miraculously heal in 2 weeks? He’s still in a cast!
They should rewrite the script and reduce Harrison’s role. Give him a bigger role in EP 8.
They gotta finish shooting this movie. They can’t wait months for Harrison to get better.
but they (inc Han) all die in Episode 7 !
That some of the “old” cast is leaving for a while doesn’t mean that production stops. Other actors can follow till august, and then, the two week hiatus happen.
I’m not making an assumption about the hiatus just like that. This is the scheduled 2 week break. I’m just waiting for another confirmation to be 100% sure.
Glad they’re all getting a bit of a vacation, but does anyone else think it’s a bit of a coincidence that this is happening exactly in line with SDCC?
As Spock might say with single lifted brow, “Fascinating.”
(Or from Total Recall: “Get ready for a surpriiiise…”)
