UPDATE! Video of Harrison Ford Walking Without Cast and Crutch!
Harrison Ford was spotted walking in Santa Monica Monday without a cast or the hands-free crutch that he was using since breaking his leg on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII last month. The odds for such speedy recovery are really low, but you know – never tell me the odds…
From nydailynews:
The actor, who is reprising his Han Solo role from the original trilogy, may be nearing a return to work on director J.J. Abrams’ eagerly awaited ‘Star Wars’ film.
Ford is free of his plaster cast for his broken leg as he walked towards his helicopter in Santa Monica.‘ Ford had been forced to use a hands-free crutch after crushing his leg in an on-set accident during filming.Â
As Ford, a licensed pilot, boarded his personal helicopter, he could be seen with a bandage wrapped around his ankle — the only clue to the ordeal he suffered less than six weeks ago.
Director J.J. Abrams had rearranged the production schedule to account for the absence of his star, who was injured at Britain’s Pinewood Studios on June 12 when a hydraulic door reportedly fell on him from Han Solo’s iconic spaceship, the Millennium Falcon.
Depending on which leg bones are broken recovery can take from 8 weeks to 6 months. The two bones on the bottom are smaller and if not displaced recovery could be very quick: 6-8 weeks (probably that’s Ford’s case). Also the recovery depends on a lot of factors like age and general health, but we all know that nothing could keep down the good old scruffy-looking nerf-herder.
Thanks to @sicky_south for the heads up.

Also here’s a new video (via TMZ) of Ford walking out of Starbucks in Santa Monica. You can actually barely see the slight limp. And he has removed the bandages that are visible from the above photo. That’s really amazing and Ford said that he is going back to work pretty soon! You can see the video by clicking HERE

Rock on! Han Solo looks strong enough to pull ears off a gundark (sp?)
Wow does he look old.
Does he look 72? No he does not. How many “old” people do you see hopping out of the helicopter they just piloted on the surgically repaired leg that was recently broken doing action stunts, with no crutch?
Awesome!!!
I think there is little doubt that part of the reason for his quick recovery is as Ford said many years ago “But I have to say I do have a good constitution.”
Plus his access to the best possible healthcare and simply luck because it can’t have been as bad a break as was feared.
Now that it’s all turned out OK I hope they have some fun with it on the VII extras.
He’s putting weight on the bad foot, nothing but a good sign. So excited. In 3-4 weeks he’s be good as new
Well he is 72.
He will look much younger in front of the camera. Make-up and lighting transform people.
Holy Bantha…what did they gave him? Bacta?
Okay, so when does this stop being ‘enthusiastic fans’ and start being ‘creepy fanboys’ Because posting stalker-ish photos like this is pretty creepy to me.
Blame the paparazzi, not us.
I actually had an article written on Ford’s appearance a month after his injury, but I decided not to post it because I respect his privacy. So yes, we do take precautions as to not be “creepy” on this website.
I don’t know who is more badass, Harrison Ford or Chuck Norris?
> Making a Chuck Norris joke in 2014.
Yeah, Chuck Norris got his ass handed to him by Bruce Lee. Most overrated “bad-ass” in the history of bad-assedness.
You mean Chuck Norris got his ass handed to him by Bruce Lee IN a Bruce Lee movie? Shocking… It’s called acting.
If you actually think that Chuck Norris is more badass than Bruce Lee, you are delusional. While I am talking about a movie, yes, is there any other movie in which Chuck Norris was acting where he got his ass kicked? No. Part of the “mystique” around an actor who plays badass characters is the actor not taking roles where he gets beat (much). I don’t recall Charles Bronson, Dirty Harry, The Duke, and those of that ilk getting their asses kicked in any movies.
The point is, the Chuck Norris joke is outdated and was always pretty ridiculous in the first place.
lol,
ref Chuck Norris, even Dean Martin kicked his ass in the final Matt Helm film The Wrecking Crew.
I cut myself shaving and broke my arm to teach it a lesson!
If your name was “Dean Martin” rather than “Mr. Norris,” this would have had an outside shot at being funny.
This sounds like it’s in line with the original “8 weeks of recovery” rumor. However, given that the filming hiatus that Disney was announced for the first two weeks of August, I think they might be giving Ford an extra week of time off before he gets back into the saddle.
That’s great news!
I have to say, beyond the fact that it’s just a helluva lousy injury to have to bounce back from in general, from the second I heard about Harrison’s accident I just felt sorry for the poor bastard for having tried to avoid the whole subject of Star Wars and Han Solo for so many years, and then the second he relents and agrees to fire up the ol’ Falcon again, WHAMMO!!!! The damned ship tries to chew his foot off.
I’m glad it didn’t take him so long to get back on both feet again.
The top part is Harrison Ford, but Andy Serkis is the bottom half!
HAHA definitely something George would have been capable of doing
Never tell him the odds! Ford spotted without a cast, Hamill spotted with an Obiwan beard, just need some news on Princess Leia?
When I broke my leg last summer it took me like 3 months to mostly recover and even then there was still some pain. Harrison Ford on the other hand is recovering like freaking Wolverine. Never tell him the odds I guess 🙂
He guys I was wondering why some of you guys and girls are still using the Anon name instead of your own. I found this site pretty soon after episode 7 was announced and I was thrilled to finally drop that awful title. Its cool to put a name with the comment. Just a thought though.
I’ve been using my Christian name since the beginning.
Great to see Harrison well on the way to recovery to continue filming, I hope JJ puts in a clever nicely timed joke from Han about the falcon door being dodgy in the film!
Never mind a cast or a crutch.
Looks like ol’ Pop-Pop needs a cane!
Easy there, Gramps ….
Guess what?
Maybe all people telling bullsh*t about Hamill and Fisher will end up watching a film were poor harrison is the less shaped of them all.
Still can’t believe that happened..Hopefully its smooth sailing from here.
I hope ford can walk…run without pain
And that it won’t effect his mood
Or his acting… by the way i am a big ford fan… he is so good …but i have to say…i saw expendables 3…and his performance was not so good…it looked like it was hard for him to act …so weird…thoughts anyone?
I kinda know what you mean. The man is pretty well shaped and looks healthy, but he’s 72. I really don’t blame him for that, he does much more than most of the actors, but you could see he looks kinda tired in Indiana Jones too.
I love how Mark Hamill imitates him sometimes, haha.
A lot of people seem to say that now whenever he’s in a movie. Honestly, I don’t see any change in his acting. For instance, if you watch The Fugitive and Bladerunner he still had that bizarre mix of calm, cool, grumpy, lazy something or other to his demeanor. It is just the way he acts, in my opinion, and now that he usually gets only minor speaking roles I guess it is more magnified to some people.
As for Indiana Jones 4, the entire set-up of the film was far different than what it once was especially with the CGI overabundance, which always changes the way an actor interacts with his environment, so that could have played a factor in any sort of perceived change in his acting too.
Looks like some guy standing just outside the picture getting instructed by Ford “bring me that goddam walking stick”
Let me run this by all of you… I was thinking about the rumored plot of Han and Chewie piloting not the Falcon but another ship. If that rumor is true than how could Lucasfilm already confirm that Harrison Ford’s injury come from the hydrolic door of the Falcon set? That confirms that Han and Chewie are piloting the Falcon… Just saying… My guess is that the rumor is false.. Anyone…. Anyone???
I saw Luke operate a speeder bike and landspeeder, under an ATAT, in The Falcon, pilot an X wing and snow speeder. Passenger and obviously fly an imperial shuttle. So what if Han does not only piolit one ship, he flew the imperial shuttle as well.
Obi wan, Luke, Lando, Liea, Chewie, Nien Nub,
have all walked that ramp…so the rumor with the injury mean nothing when it comes to the falcon and what Han will fly in EP 7.
Leg-o Star Wars
You can tell HF is still hobbled, even in a still photo. It’s probably going to take a couple more months to get to one hundred percent healthy.
Is it me, or did the TMZ guy filming seem nicer than usual? He politely asked Harrison Ford how he was doing and then kindly backed off. Sure, he started filming the guy without permission, but that’s the paparazzi.
Yeah I was thinking that – particularly the “hope I didn’t spoil your day” comment at the end. For TMZ that was quite civilised.
TMZ ’employees’ are just anyone with a smart phone who captures something they can sell to TMZ. So it all depends on the person. This guy was indeed pretty polite.
I tell you guys…Han got a nice new robo-leg with synth-flesh cover 😛
Woopdey doo!
His leg will heal, do we really need umpteen photos and videos of him in the meantime???
Yes, we need confirmation that he is NOT and I repeat NOT going to limp, because he is a smuggler not a Pirate…ya dig?!?!?!
Wow…he was smiling too..Go Harrison..amazingly speedy recovery at 72
Okay, cool. Looks like he’s doing just fine. Even his limp looks more like the rolling gait of a grizzled old sea captain.
I would love it if they had Han Solo limp throughout Episode 7, and one of the younger generation characters said to Luke, “Where did you dig up that old fossil?”
Agreed, that would be awesome.
AWESOME HARRY!
If you analize the video, before he knows he’s being filmed he’s in pain! then in his first answer he smiles but you can see he’s souffering. Once they mention work to him, his smile is 100%! Pretty soon. Ah… good!
I wouldn’t say his smile is 100%, it’s more like “get away from me!” What’s with those shorts? He always seems a bit strange off camera..
Anyway, he lose interest in the acting game years ago. These days he only does it to buy more planes.
Those shorts are probably from the exercise bike, for strength training. Even so, how embarrassing to go out of the house in those!
Is it really true the rumour that the shooting in Skellig Michael island is for final scene and Hamill only will apear ONE MINUTE???????
Oh I don’t believe that to be true. From what I’ve heard, Hamill has a lot of scenes in the film. I think we can expect him in it a lot.
Thats not true, THATS IMPOSSIBLE
It would be so fun if they’d reference the accident with some small insider joke in the movie, like, maybe Han wishes “good luck” to another character about to do something dangerous by saying “break a leg” aha
Could be a fun inside joke for those in the know as well as a nice reference to Leia and Luke before “pulling a tarzan” in EP IV aha
