New Cool Video Feature on the Official Star Wars Site.
The new feature is called The StarWars.com 10. They had something similar in the past but this time it’s a video countdown with very well edited scenes from the movies and some cool SW sound effects and music. Hit the jump to find out which are the 10 best droids in Star Wars…
From StarWars.com:
Welcome to The StarWars.com 10, a feature where StarWars.com’s editorial staff huddles to discuss — in committee — various topics relating to a galaxy far, far away.
Today, we’re looking at the galaxy’s top mechanical pals… and terrors. For this list, we’re focused on droids from the Star Wars films and Star Wars: The Clone Wars (sorry, Chopper), ranking them on overall impact on the saga, personality, and cool factor.

They didn’t put Legends into consideration when making this, so why would HK-47 be on the list?
was General Grievous omitted because he was organic on the inside?
Yup – he’s a cyborg, even though he occasionally referred to himself as a droid on The Clone Wars.
> They didn’t put Legends into consideration when making this, so why would HK-47 be on the list?
Statement: Rules are for meatbags.
They also forgot about these two:
(1) MSE-6-series repair droid (called “mouse droid”),
(2) GNK power droid (called “gonk droid”).
How could they?!
I literally only opened the comments so that I could say that gonk and mouse droids are both better than battle droids.
It’s nice how they included the prequels when compiling the list of ALL Star Wars films…
… because from Comic Con and Disney’s advertising strategy thus far, you’d think they were purposely ignoring the prequels just to make original fanboys happy.
They are purposely ignoring the prequels.
And that is stupid, because Prequel movies are star wars, and they are great.
What other movies constitute great for you ?
You spent a lot of money on the Prequels didn’t you?
So you let Mr. Plinkett get to you and now you’re sore. Also the name Jar Jar Binks is way cooler than
Duke Dirtwalker!!!
Just because Mr. Plinkett saw the movies for what they are, and others agree with him, does not mean that he somehow “got to us” whatever that might mean. Look at the criticisms objectively and you realize the prequels were not up to the standard for storytelling that Star Wars fans expected. That’s not “PT bashing,” it is expressing the very real feelings that longtime Star Wars fans felt and that Mr. Plinkett very aptly points out.
Funny how he goes right to Mr. Plinkett isn’t it Mr. Anonymous.
Yes, intriguing that he or she still defends the PT so vigorously after having watched the Plinkett reviews in their entirety (although that assumes that he or she actually watched them).
Mr Plinkett doesn’t even REALLY go into the countless flaws of these movies. I was like, that’s it? “Revenge of the Sith” alone has at least one bad idea per frame.
You never answered my question, and no i spent very little money on the prequels. The most money i spent on the prequels was the first lego star wars game and the dvds for the movies. So why did you decide to insult me ? Did i offend you in some way? I must have to get a receive a reaction like that. But i shouldn’t be too hard on you, since you can’t even spell my name right and you think Jar Jar Binks is a cool name.
Just like Mr. Lucas ignored the Original Versions of the Star Wars Trilogy after 1997. For years and years, many older fans wanted the OOT to be released, and very few of the Prequel fans came to our defense on the Star Wars Forums saying it was Lucas’s vision. Well now you guys are getting the same treatment as they are literally ignoring the Prequels and catering to the OT fanbase now. You gotta love the Irony!!!
The three duhs: 1) George Lucas’s fav character won first 2) thus bumping Threepio to #2. 3) Of course David Tennant got #3… he only won TCW an Emmy for that cameo.
However while I get buzz droid making the list (though I disagree). The video claimed they where practical weapons, however imho they are one of the most impractical weapons in all of star wars. I mean really how is a bunch of driods that slowly rip apart a star fighter (and no one quite understands how they fit inside a missile, let alone dozens of them) more practical than a missile that just blows them up or a cluster bomb if you’re worried about a powerful jedi dodging the main explosion? They where comic relief and a plot induced threat, nothing more. If you want a good clone wars Era war droid to take their place (since clearly LFL is going to make sure all their ‘canon’ properites get represented and not ignored) how about either Super Battle Droid or Manga Guards droids with their cool staff weapons.
Even though I dislike the prequels I wholeheartedly support the Droideka, though I prefer to call them Destroyer Droids.
I’d even be willing to include the Super Battle Droids and maybe the Vulture Droid/Droid Fighter.
The rest for me is of course original trilogy droids.
How do you want prequel droids on a top ten list but hate the movies?
I’ve said it many times before. Designs, artwork, special effects, music were all great in the prequels. It’s only the entire script, screenplay, acting and everything else that failed.
Destroyer Droids are awesome.
no ev9d9 that’s sad.
The official site has become a sad shell of late. I just hope SW7 gets it’s own URL as it definitely deserves it.
The official site is very boring.
Come on…no love for the IT-O Interrogator? That thing scared me as a child.
It should have been on the list, you’re right.
Battle droids? Jesus, another reason why I hated the PT
