UPDATE 2! Star Wars Rebels: A Look Ahead. Plus – A Lightsaber Duel and We’re Even Clip.

Rebels

Get a sneak peek at what’s to come in the first season of Star Wars Rebels, including new scenes featuring the Inquisitor, Ezra’s Jedi training, and the appearance of a certain droid duo…

UPDATE 2!

As if Lucasfilm Animation wasn’t being generous enough with unveiling two new trailers for the show in the span of a few days, they unveiled yet another clip – this one displaying what appears to be Kanan’s first encounter with the Inquisitor. Though this clip was exclusive at the panel, the good folks at Entertainment Weekly got an exclusive clip showing off the threat that the Inquisitor poses to the ragtag team of heroes. See it below the aforementioned clip.

God this show looks amazing. It doesn’t look too childish and the original concept art <3

The imperial forces look really cool but I’m not a fan of how the heroes look, I guess it might be cool though.

The animation quality is waaaaay bad compared to the Clone Wars. It looks like a video game. Not saying it won’t be a cool show. You would just think Disney would’ve kept the same standards as Cartoon Network.

The visual standard of the Clone Wars had nothing to do Cartoon Network! George had everything to do with that, he privately financed the whole show on his own, in house! He just needed a network to put it on TV, it just happened to be Cartoon Network.

Yep stilted movement and lazy textures. You can see where Disney is saving its money (Its in the visible product). The Disappointment train is out of the station and chugging onto its 2016 stop at the “we took the money over any quality” train station.

Some of these bedroom moaners should not be aloud on the internet – it’s crap, the animation sucks, it’s for kids!!! No on all counts – it looks like a great deal of fun, the animation is a good as it gets for a TV show, and it’s for whoever wants to enjoy it.

Obviously a show marketed to children, but it doesn’t look bad.

    Heh, nice.

Kind of curious about Luminara. Obviously Disney is doing their own thing with the characters so does that mean she wasn’t on Kashyyyk during Order 66? If she was did she get captured there or later on? And if she survived on Kashyyyk, as did Yoda, would the others have as well? Perhaps with the help of the Wookiees? Maybe that’s part of why the Empire comes down on them

I imagine they want Luminara alive as a way to locate other surviving Jedi. Or something like that.

    Possibly.

Curious if they’re going to bring in some Jedi who weren’t killed on screen for the purpose of giving them a canon death.

I’m just letting my mind wander, but I wonder if Luminara’s presence may be somehow related to Ahsoka. After all, Luminara was Barriss Offee’s Master, and Barriss’ acts caused Ahsoka’s exile. Maybe they are closing her story arc…

If there was one character that would be making a reappearance from The Clone Wars, it would probably be Ahsoka Tano.

Hondo Ohnaka, Embo, Cad Bane, and the former Jedi Younglings would be great, too.

And Ahsoka has always been Dave Filoni’s protégée. I’m sure he will show her somehow.

That would be amazing, Ashoka deserves a proper conclusion or inclusio to this new series, wonder how she would look..

      Good point though

I don’t like that Ezra appears to be more powerful then Luke Skywalker.

If he is not dead by the start of ANH, then what makes Luke so special? Why are the rebels fallowing him to Hoth? On the other hand it’s kind of creepy and sad to get behind a kid hero who is going to die in less the five years.

But I do like that everyone is shooting red laser blasts again.

They are not going to kill the kid Ezra in 5 years or 10-20!

Everyone thought for sure that Ashoka would die at the end of the Clone Wars 5 years ago, and look what they did to her….they didn’t “kill” her.

I expect that Ezra will make a cameo in Episode 7, 8 or 9. That or he will get one of the spin-off films. Disney will not “kill” him.

The biggest question is what is Luminara doing still alive?

Did not Darth Sidious make it clear to Darth Vader that all the Jedi must be hunted down and destroyed, or it would be “civil war without end”…….
Now I know some Jedi went into hiding and some got away…….

Star Wars rebels takes place 5 years before the events of Episode 4.
So why is the Empire keeping her alive? Has she just been chilling in prison for some 15 years after the events of Episode 3?

Luke’s father has a higher midichlorian count than even Master Yoda. So Luke’s bloodline and ties to the Force are what makes Luke special.

Thanks for the video. It’s cool. I just wish the lightsaber fight didn’t feel like PT dancing. I also don’t like how characters kept using Force powers to get themselves or others out of a bind. Looks too easy.

I’m surprised how differently The Inquisitor’s facial expressions turned out to be from what I was expecting!

What? How does anyone appear more powerful than Luke (or any other Jedi).

I swear some people will not be satisfied about anything. Is it a kids show? Yeah. Take it with a big grain of salt.

And the animation being worse than TCWs? Really? At least their hair doesn’t look like bizarre layered pieces. I actually see this show having a good bit of edge to it, just from the trailers (despite the fact that it WILL be campy). Get a grip guys. Geez.

I was keen on the show (realizing It’s a younger audience marketed etc, but good to tide over till ep 7), but after this, wow! I just love the throwbacks here, hopefully kids will dig it and those who love a bit of nostalgia will get a fix (as I sure did). Being it on 😀

Is that story thread being introduced? I thought that was Legends or EU or which ever is preferred?

        • July 25, 2014 at 6:34 pm

They said from the beginning that the Inquisitor is *not* a Sith, but a warrior trained to use the Force. They more-or-less did the same thing in The Clone Wars with Savage Opress.

For frame of reference, EU = Legends. Everything that comes out from now on is canon unless specified otherwise. The Clone Wars is also canon.

I’m so into this show! can’t wait ’till October.

My only problem is with Ezra. The little kid, that is discovered to be a possible new Jedi… seems… out of place. Every other character is great, but I think I’m gonna hate him as I loved Ahsoka

For those complaining about Erza get a grip. Have you not watched Star Wars 1-6? The Skywalker bloodline is one of if not the most potent with the force. Erza may have the force but not near the level Luke or Anakin had. He’s just a stop gap character (jedi) for the kids.

    Btw, digging the stormtrooper animation.

P.s. still wanna see Vader in this show.

The show looks like it could be halfway decent when they’re not focusing on Sabine.

I’m not impressed with the textures though.

I’m kind of baffled about all of this Sabine hate based on her description alone. She’s gotten the least amount of screentime in any of the previews we’ve seen, and I think that’s crucial when it comes to judging a character. Sure, she’s quite obviously a demographic-pandering character, but she could be well-written in the right hands.

I was thinking about obi wan. I think his name will get bigger in this series. I have a feeling that he will act like some kind of guide for those rebels. Like he feels that this group will fill the gap until luke is ready to start his training etc. I dont know but it just came to me. Would be great tho. What do you think?

Well there’s not propellant as far as I can see, involved with a tie fighter. It just seems to float there as it is. Why wouldn’t they be able to fly sideways?

Am I the only one that still wishes that the Star Wars TFU story is still somewhat canon? I enjoyed how the rebellion was formed through that story.

Definitely. I miss Galen. I keep hoping one day to find something concrete about TFU3, but there’s nothing so far….

I think it’s still technically possible that they could do something like that. Perhaps Palpatine saw that the Rebel movement was growing, and decided that it would be prudent to gather up potential leaders and execute them to demoralize the small, unorganized movements popping up.
