Rumor: New Star Wars: Episode 7 Prop and Costume Details. Plus Han Solo’s New Ride!
After the IndieRevolver posted their article with the 2 Stormtrooper images they update their article with an actual prop image of one of the helmets taken from therpf boards (as we already reported). The person who first uploaded that image also shared some interesting bits about Han Solo’s costume as well as some details about lightsabers. And he did that before Indie Revolver published their second story with the Han Solo concept art…
So let me first quote you what this guy said before the concept art article was posted:

As you know the IndieRevolver report says that the Stormtrooper helmet is asymmetrical with only one vent nozzle near the mouth. And here’s what the guy said before posting the prop photo:

I have seen 4 Han Solo wardrobe concepts for the new film. I can tell you that his style didn’t change much, however, all images show 2 holsters and one shows a long ‘Browncoat’ styled coat. One image seems to embrace a teeny bit more western themed clothing.
All of the Ep7 wardrobe photos that I have seen with Han show him holding his traditional blaster.
Sounds too close to be coincidence, right? Here’s what he had to say about the Episode VII lightsabers and more on Stormtroopers:
I was at a friend’s house whom works in a particular area of the motion picture industry. While there, he showed me 2 pics of items in Episode 7. I saw the new stormtrooper and one lightsaber
If the saber was crudely divided into 5 sections, it looks like brushed and lightly polished spun aluminum on the bottom, center grip, and emitter. Satin grey finish on the guards above and below the grip. Total length is 10-12″However, I have now seen 2 more ‘trooper’ images.
One is likely the rumored ‘Black Stormtrooper’, but it is different than the white one I saw. If I had to field a guess, it is in the vein of a TIE pilot as it has a respirator looking tube on the helmet that goes from one side of the ‘chin’ to the other.

And speaking about Han Solo and lightsabers here’s more on the character from BadAssDigest:
According to my sources Han and Chewie are piloting a Super Star Destroyer. I wasn’t 100% sure on this, but the image of Han with Imperial rank sells me.
I believe the Falcon is in the hands of Oscar Isaac’s character, who is very much the Lando Calrissian of this movie – all the way down to wearing a cape.
There are other familiar spaceships in this movie, incuding three variations on TIE Fighters. There’s the classic design, the TIE Interceptor and a new generation TIE Bomber – the pods on these are stacked, not side-by-side.
Oh, and back to Han – you will get to see him use a lightsaber once again.

This news really cheapens the mythology.
It’s not like Han’s going to be pulling Mace Windu-level shenanigans or anything with the weapon. It’s most likely that he’ll use it as a tool or something.
WHAT NO VEST!! One word… DONE! Just kidding I do like the new coat over what appears to be the exact same clothing from the OT and the winter clothing Han wear from ESB.

you really want to see Han Solo flying an imperial starship? If the empire is still around, how does this make sense?
Maybe han and chewie somehow hijacked the ship, or sneak on board pretending to be with the Empire…
The Rebel Alliance hijacked an Imperial Shuttle once. Given that the Empire was significantly weakened by the death of Palpatine, it’s not impossible to imagine that they got their hands on bigger and better ships, especially considering that support for an insurrection would go up significantly at that point.
It makes sense….
Its a reverse play on what the PT did. The “Empire” was 1st the Republic in Ep. 2 & 3 remember.
Now in Ep. 7 it makes total sense that the Republic would take back what was theirs in the beginning.

But what does piloting a super star destroyer mean? In the movies, we see a captain on the bridge bossing his minions around, who sit in the control room pushing little buttons and staring at screens and shit. hardly exciting stuff for han and chewie to be doing. the falcon probably has to be passed on, cause han is an old geezer, but i don’t think they would deprive the fans of han and chewie frolicking on the falcon one last time.

If Solo has Imperial rank, so it means that maybe the Alliiance took control of the Empire?
Or only a piece of it. This means Ships, Soldiers and structures…makes sense.
And it also seem they’re using elements from the EU, in some stories of the Expanded, the Rebels stole many ships of the Empire. In Legacy(Cade’s era), there’s a issue where the Alliance steals ships of the Empire over Calamari. Well, that’s a great thing to see in future Star Wars projects.
And that’s make sense(The Alliance taking control of the Empire), we’ve been hearing rumors that won’t be New Republic, so the Rebels are the New Empire(Well, that’s strange in other way).
I, too, would steal a ship over some calamari. It’s only going to keep you full for so long, and a Super Star Destroyer must have plenty of canteens with some great food on board for visiting dignitaries….
That was my first reaction as well, but if you look closely at the badge on the concept art and compare it to his Empire Strikes Back outfit you can tell it’s almost the same. So, not an Imperial rank insignia.

You’re right, Patrick. that looks the same outfit he used in ESB.
It might even just be the same jacket. Han Solo is a very practical utilitarian dude, he;s not someone that would care much about fashion. His clothes would primarily be functional and comfortable. So if his winter jacket still keeps him warm I doubt Han would see much of a need to replace it.
And it’s just me or someone else thinks the Han’s visual in second photo looks like Harrison’s in Blade Runner? Holy Shark, that’s very similar to Rick Deckard.

Agreed. I feel this way about all of todays rumors. Some of them might end up fleshing out to a degree, but all-in-all, i think the source of these rumors is having fun with all of us after a few slow weeks of very little news…

In don’t buy the info, but I like looking at the drawings for what they are: conceptual drawings. I’m sure they had a LOT of concept art drafted for the costumes for the cast; doesn’t mean they are the final, chosen versions. These pics of Han are the kind of things you would toss around for ideas. I do like the western look to the one of Han with the brown trenchcoat. Kind of like when he wore the camouflage jacket in Jedi.
First picture Han Hoth Gear with old Ford head. Second picture…ummm…..Blade Runner? I hope not, this is not the Wild West, this is a Galaxy far far away…..

Why would someone like JJ, who’s paranoid about secrecy, tweet a photo of the hand of the main EpVII villain?
Because the hand itself gives nothing away while also acts a misdirection because it could play into any number of different rumors.

Very true! There’s no way of telling, either.
However, JJ is clever, and maybe both the hand and the picture are deliberate plants. Maybe our real villain is somewhere among the other rumours floating around.

The hand’s just a prop. It could be anything (just like that alien creature tottering behind him in the first Force for Change video). All this means is that we’ll see it on screen, but it could be the hand of a droid that has like 10 secs. of screen time and that’s it.
Which leads me to believe that it’s not the new villain’s hand, but Luke’s. I mean, the background on it kind of looked like Skellig Michael.
There is no way that Han would let anyone take his ship.

In the Prequels (which I and many people loved) the troopers are the good guys. The Empire came from that. So why not have the events of VI turn things back. Han flying a SSD could be a good guys ship. Stormtroopers with lightsabres… Good guys, following training set by Luke. George always said SW was about syllogism and patterns. Good, bad, and back to good again. The perfect close to the saga George wrote.
Spoilers!!! Okay now listen up, I got the goods. Luke will be flying a modified Skyhopper, I know this cause he did it before!
Liea and Chewie fly to Anarondath in a C-wing fighter to get spare parts for the falcon.
Also Luke does not use lightsabers any more he is at an all new level of Jedi-dom, he uses Force flames, (they are rainbow colored)

These are not the rumors you are looking for.
You don’t want to sell me death sticks. You want to go home and rethink your life.
Move along.
I love how some of you nitpick without context. It makes absolute sense that they confiscated Star Destroyers and other useful ships during the war, or that they stole it, or had it built upon taking over Imperial factories.
Guess what else makes sense? Han flying one at the beginning of the movie, to start him in a place of flying something giant and being responsible and giving him an arc to returning to the glory days at some point. To – once the action starts and a new threat – a real threat since Jedi – is revealed, he’s on the run and back to his old tricks. That’s when the old vest comes on, when he shows them young kids what the Falcon can do.
I’ve said this from the beginning. The opening crawl will reveal that the Empire has stuck around, but the “Rebellion” is in power and been keeping them in check. And that’s immediately turned on its head in the opening scene when a new threat is revealed, a battle takes place, and it puts everything into motion, some characters scurrying. Game of Thrones woman won’t be hunting Boyega down for deserting. He’s going to do something to piss her off in that opening scene as well. Like not take out Ridley’s ship when it’s about to take a major victory. The hand isn’t a driving plot force. It’s a thread. The hand actually seems like something for a teaser. It’s from here that both Ridley and Boyega are shot down and team up and realize they ahve to work together early in the first act to survive.
Also expect to see Han and Ridley interacting at the beginning of the movie in the battle, her not taking orders very well, but them not revealing she’s his daughter until their reunited, which puts the opening scene into focus. (Tell you what I’d love to see, is Han seeing Ridley and the Falcon at the same time, saying, I thought I’d never see her again with wonder, and then going to his daugther and not the ship, showing how much he’s matured.)
If you know anything about story structure, you can see how many of these things fit. Most of all this stuff you’re reading will be propelled by an opening battle, not a hand falling from space.

Han may be commanding a repurposed Star Destroyer, but there’s no way he’d ever let the Falcon fall into anyone else’s hands.
I’m a bit skeptical that a repurposed Star Destroyer would still be flying 35 years after the Battle of Endor.
During the time of the Battle of Endor, any Star Destroyer would likely have already been 10 years old, meaning a Star Destroyer today would be 45 years old.
The age of the vessel, combined with any potential battle damage, would make flying a 45 year old Star Destroyer unlikely. Ships are generally retired long before that.
Additionally it’s entirely possible that new technologies developed in the past 35 years would render the Star Destroyer obsolete, just as the airplane rendered the battleship obsolete.
Story structure tells us that having the Empire still sticking around 35 years later would horribly undermine the climax of the Third Act of the Original Trilogy, with no real narrative benefit.
Okay just out of curiosity, where the 35 years coming from? I thought it was 30?
TPM was set 32 yrs. before ANH. 30, 32, 35 years…who cares? It’s just a number, is all.

That being said, it’d be kind of cool if Ep. VII was set exactly 32 yrs. after RotJ, if only to match the time that passed between Eps. I and IV.
It’s somewhere between 30-35 years. I don’t thin the exact number of years has been specified yet.
If however we go by the year of the release of ROTJ, 1983, then in 2015 it will have been 32 years.

32 years before that was 1951, the year that The Day The Earth Stood Still was first released.

Listen that’s not the only way Luke uses the force, Luke has had a lot of time to perfect his methods. After he meets Max von Sydows Sith Inquisitives, Luke force throws jawas at him knocking him down just like Palpatine in the office scene.
Luke does not fall to dark side but has ability to utilize a new power of colorful fire and can freeze things with it.
Luke has stuff in his beard and does not fly anymore, that is a super Jedi trait also a Jedi vision of Kenobi-1 on a distant planet.
Ok, it’s obvious that you are joking now. Although rainbow powers would be very Disney and My Little Pony, I guess. I kinda like the idea of Serkis playing a walking trashcan, but I thought you said Max Von Sydow was a bartender, not a Sith Inquisitor. Does Luke pull out a robotic beard out of his beard, or is it something else?

If it ends up that Oscar Isaacs is playing Solo’s son, Disney can just fuck right off.
I agree that the movie will open with a bang in the middle of some kind of action.
If Han wears an imperial uniform, it’s a disguise. He’s likely leading a team to hijack a SSD ship (similar to Death Star in ANH and Imperial base in ROTJ). If he uses a lightsaber, it’s probably a confiscated weapon from a McQuarrie Stormtrooper. Remember Han’s a doer, he’ll try anything to get the job done, and that includes giving orders to the bridge as well. What remains to be seen is if he is still using deception or has revealed himself and hijacked the ship.
I’ve said this before, they are using Episodes IV-VI for inspiration, and that includes similar plot structures in different ways, such as Gwendolyne Christie going after Boyega as a backstory, similar to Fett chasing Solo.
Everything is already in motion, there is no start to the events in the movie. We will be dropped into the action as soon as the scroll fades away.
