This isn’t because of money, it’s because the writers didn’t want to damage the mystery and intimidation Darth Vader has by being defeated by a bunch of kids every week.

So instead theyre gonna have this other unimtimidating character defeated by kids every week?
No, they should just have Vader appear once every while, have the kids only interact with stormtroopers, Imperials, or better yet whatever else in the Star Wars universe, and forget this Inquistor nonsense altogether.

Well that makes zero sense because if both the Imperials and Vader know Kanan is a Jedi, that’s Vader’s territory, so why wouldn’t he handle it himself? And if that’s the case, we’re back to the crappy premise of Vader getting beat by a bunch of kids every week. I think it’s fine the way it is now.

Vader has more important issues to tend to in ‘Rebels’, the way the Emperor had in the OT.

Personally, I think Vader should have a much larger role in this series, but at least he’s making an appearance and voiced by James Earl Jones! Looking forward to seeing the series premier.

So they already have episodes with added material? The episode I just recorded isn’t even the final version of it?

I thought Lucas sold Star Wars. Are we sure he’s not still the man behind the curtain?

I, for one, am not satisfied with this pathetic little “wave” of appreciation to all that Vader is in Star Wars. All he’ll get out of this series is an additional scene for the ABC release? What a perfect way to honor the greatest villain in film history, Filoni… Remind me again why this guy was put in charge in the first place?

All I’m saying is that Vader should be the primary antagonist in this series. Having a minion go out and do his dirty work waters down his character (as we know him in the OT) quite a bit. So many more fans would be inclined to watch this series if there was more Vader.

It’s a cartoon. You don’t waste a great villain like Vader with a cartoon. They’re lucky to get a couple of cameos per season.

Vader and the Emperor should be talked about but not seen. This is one thing I think is the right decision.

James Earl Jones doing the voice of Vader is probably the best ‘Seal of Authenticity’ for anything to do with Star Wars. If the Sith Lord approves then it shall be done. Disney is taking “The Emperor’s prize,” in this case ‘Rebels’ very seriously. But I agree that it should be done methodically and sparingly. Or enough to meet the demand of the overall storyline.

In most EVERYONES opinion, The Clone Wars was great. Not just VH opinion. The Clone Wars made right what was missing from the PT, which I treasure dearly in my heart, and besides a true Star Wars fan loves all things “Star Wars”. Filoni is the right man for the job because he is a true fan, groomed by George himself, and not just another person collecting a pay check at a job.

Can we get one scene with Vader reading a book or doing something recreational. I mean he and the Emperor can’t be in war-mode all the time. Right?

The Emperor: *reading to Vader* And that’s how the little cyborg conquered the world and killed ever surviving Jedi in the universe. The end.
      Darth Vader: Yay!!! Again, again!!!

Maybe Vader needs to learn to read. Or maybe he can’t read at all. I mean, who knows, he may have bad eye-sight because of the.. Um, Mustafar incident and his mask probably doesn’t help with his eyesight at all. Then again, he might have perfect eyesight, his mask actually enhancing it. You never know. :p

Viral. I may be out of the loop, but is this any indication that the show will also air on ABC (on a lag behind Disney XD)? I plan to download the episodes since I don’t have XD, but ABC I can work with. I didn’t know if this was just a special for Spark of Rebellion or if Disney has plans to air the series on the ABC network as well.

I do not like how they did this at all… they just added vader for ABC to get more $$$

If he wasn’t gonna be in the ORIGINAL first episode I would have preferred a dramatic entrance in a future episode…

this is the first thing Disney has done that I 100% Disagree with and 100% Dislike.

Oh what a shock, the first episode has only just aired in the UK and now they add an extra scene to completely piss off fans who’ve already sat and watched it!!! Wow, thats passion dude. You mean an extra couple minutes of footage that you’ll TEMPORARILY miss out on makes you want to ditch Disney and Lucasfilm altogether?!

I say temporarily because its obvious the additional footage will be available for widespread access at some point in the relatively near future. WTF?! You think this extra shit will forever be hidden from everyone outside the U.S.?

I guess E7 better be perfect with absolutely no flaws whatsoever in order for you to be satisfied.

Basically your point is that you HAVE to watch it minimum twice, to see it all, right? But you know what? You can watch anything just once for the fist time. Without knowing anything, with surprise an all that shit that is so exciting when you watch a show FOR THE FIRST TIME! Well maybe next time you will be the one in our position and we´ll see how you like it.

Guys the first episode was great, and the fact that they are adding vader in is AWESOME!!!! I agree vader and the emperor should be talked about but not seen too much just a couple of special appearances because as stated in an earlier comment we cant see them defeated by a bunch of kids every week it would not work, making them less scary etc I like everything they are doing and they are not gonna please everyone! I think they could show a little more vader but in a different story arc that is indirectly connected to the main line buts thats it, just a few cameos etc but i do hope we see more obi wan!

No more than a stunt by Disney to attract more viewers. I was shocked by the low 6.5 mil viewers for the Disney premiere, expecting double that, maybe they were too. Therefore film this quick scene, they have almost three weeks to edit it into the episode, and hope the ABC showing peaks interest in the Disney show. I don’t like it airing on DisXD, which I have to pay 9.95 extra for from my cable provider. DisHD though is free with my HD package, bad move on Disney’s part. Perhaps they will show Rebels on ABC, allowing a month delay between the showing on Disney XD, that way the XD viewers feel they are getting a sneak showing every week.

Low? For a cartoon, those are pretty good ratings for a premiere. For frame of reference, the highly-successful cartoon The Clone Wars was well over 3 million viewers. This nearly doubled that.

6.5 cable rating for a cartoon is insane.
Disney executives probably blew a load in their pants when they saw those numbers.

There a huge difference between major network ratings and CABLE ratings.

Lucas had the excuse of lacking timing and technology for his alterations. There is no excuse for Disney/Lucasfilm doing it since they are setting their own deadlines and have nearly 40 years of technical advances at their disposal especially for this cartoon which is technically child’s play. If they wanted Vader in it, they should have done it right the first time. It’s unprofessional.

For all of you saying this is a blatant crass move on Disney’s part…if it is, no shit. That is how business works. If you’re going to take a moral stand over a company doing something completely typical, which is pander to their audience and boost awareness for their product, you’ll be driven insane. You’re acting like they did something morally reprehensible sticking a new scene in there as an extra carrot to fans. Be grateful we get Vader. Sheesh.

i am still just a little pissy about the fact that i have been told all of my life that vader hunted down and destroyed the last of the Jedi..only to find out it was all lies. I am also a little pissy about the fact that some little disney cartoon is going to ruin and destroy everything we knew about the OT…awesome there are two Jedi discovered and they are the spark of the rebellion!!! YAY!!! wait…wait…wait a minute?… shouldnt Bail Organa and his new adopted daughter let them know that master Obi wan and Yoda are still alive and arrange a meeting…or take them to tattooine to find general Kenobi? fuckin dumb.. There should be NO JEDI in this cartoon.PERIOD..because it is FACT…that in this timeline the only ones who exist are Luke, Obi-wan-Yoda- and leia….. the fact that there are two other jedi…doesnt this defeat the whole Purpose of Obi Wans death? or the fact that Luke had to face the Emperor and Vader alone? i would like to meet the jackass at Disney who though up this bright idea…so i can punch him in the throat. i also think the fact that they made the lightsabers different is pretty damn retarded…oh hey..lets make them look as shitty as they looked in ANH and just say they look like this because in those times the FORCE was “weak”…instead of them looking like shit because of the technology from 1976…i am not buying into it…because if that is the case..then wtf happened in ESB and ROTJ? Did the FORCE all of a sudden wake up from hibernation? in ESB Luke had the same Saber supposedly from ANH but it was bright and vibrant just like the PT…and in ROTJ his green saber was even better….im not buying this crap about the force being weak non-sense…who fucking hires these people? and did they even know anything about Star Wars before they began work on this project? i am willing to bet,,”NO”.
