I honestly never got the nerdom thing. Star Wars incorporates ancient mythological story themes that effect all of our lives. If anything, its the opposite of catering to a niche crowd base.

No, Anon. This was NOT the plan all along. Disney just gave in and decided to release the trailer friday so they wouldn’t be responsible for 10 million people pulling out their iphones and google glasses in the dark theaters this Thansgiving weekend.

Yes, was it going to be like inn the old days, when we had to wait a year before a new movie or trailer was realesed over here…like, before the internet came and resqued us? When I think about it, it feels like forever ago…like a long long time ago…

This is what happens when too many listen to too many rumors. headaches and yak. this waz all designed by the peeps. they hype you up, let u think u not gettn much, then hit ya agin with a surprise. hope the trailer is worth it. but i doubt we will see alot in trailer. if it is 88 seconds long, im sure most of it will show basic things but not much. but thank goodness for the stars above we got something to cherrish until the big trailer comes out…. thank u Disney, JJ , Kasdan, etc….

yeah so won’t be able to watch it on a huge large screen with hundreds of like minded folk… rather squint at some shitty 6inch itunes version. obviously disney doesn’t think i’m important enough to get a full proper cinematic experience with the teaser so offically boycotting this.

      1. Computer
      2. Wi-Fi or Blue
      3. Newer Blue Ray player or game console with home media center.
      4. Large Screen TV, Wi-Fi (to avoid cables)

Link the computer to the TV via the Media Center and presto trailer on your HD tv.

trailers dont really interest me . they generally give a false impression of the finished film , ive been duped too many times by them in the past. although teasers usually only serve to let the public know that there is actually a film coming out in the future and contain nothing but a few images and a date. i thought the trailer for tpm made it look like a totaly different film from the one we got , for example

    • November 27, 2014 at 12:49 am
      Permalink

Oh come on. A teaser is great for so many things. We get to see the visual style, the cinematography, the CHARACTERS! Sorry but how can you even begin to actually moan about this? and sorry but it’s up to you to realise that a teaser is not going to be an exact impression of the finished product. It shouldn’t have to spoon feed you.

who is moaning? not me …. if my opinion that i , me , personaly , think trailers do a great job of fooling people into thinking that they are getting one thing when they are actually getting something else come across as moaning , then im sorry .

i site blade runner as an excellent example of this …. trailer was all action , film wasnt (and better for it)

I still don’t get how episode 1 let down people. Badass music, great effects, amazing light saber fights, the first Star Wars in 15 years, and yet one character just ruined it for everyone. I’m still convinced if people didn’t jump on a hateful band wagon of jar jar binks, they would have never thought twice about him. Just another example of how disgustingly contagious hate is.

When I first saw it I thought Jar Jar was funny even in moronic childish way. Then people started making fun of him and I was on the bandwagon. I didn’t watch EP 1 for years cause of it. Then finally watched it with a friend who had never seen it, and laughed at him genuinely again. Which showed me just how contagious negative thinking is. Episode 1 &3 are good movies. Not mind blowing but Jesus people are so horribly critical of movies. Episode 2 was just plain bad.

no way dude! I wanted nothing more than to love that film. I’ve watched the opening 30 minutes or so a hundred times on tv since hoping “maybe it will be good this time”…I’ve given it a hundred chances…no, this is a weak film…period.

how did it let down? boring naboo, jar jar jinx, boring politcal and love scenes which went on forever (same for the pod race), the kid who played anni, the name anni, watto, in fact go watch Plinkett’s Why Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace Was So Terrible on youtube

That’s your perspective, which is totally fine, for you. Not everyone is so easily influenced by the general reaction of other people. Jarjar wasn’t the only problem. I do agree, the film has it’s moments as you pointed out, music and I’ll even say the best lightsaber fight. But that’s it. I’ve watched TPM dozens of times since it’s release and hate jarjar more now than ever and it has nothing to do with contagious hate. I just think what a wasted opportunity to make an awesome movie—letdown.
You say episode 2 is bad, how come you don’t blame that on contagious hate? Most people hate that film too and it has nothing to do w/jarjar—the bastard isn’t even in it much. AOTC and TPM were both letdowns, it wasn’t because of contagious hate. It’s because they sucked. But, despite all that, I do feel ROTS made up for a lot of negativity and turned out great. For the PT overall, that’s only one out of three, unfortunately.

don’t mean to change the subject, but I hated ESB and ROTJ because Luke somehow became a force-wielding superhero with only a crash course of jedi training… and even then he ran away from his lessons against the direct order of his teacher. It’s like becoming a karate master after a few days of coaching.

I already said that but no one replied so i’m going to say it again, i thing that if Darth plagueis will be the villain, that would be a great link between all the movies and the reason why Vader as the Chosen One. Would be the greatest plot twist and the best Star Wars story so far, if the new villain will be just another new sith it will suck because that dont make sense a new sith apear after so long time! Thats why i dislike the post Rotj EU because theres no major link with the prequels and the said choosen one, and no reason for a new sith appear, darth krayt suck as the leader of the One Sith. Sorry my poor english, but i wanna share my opinion…

^ in reply to “darth in the wind”

unless the story team used their imagination and created a new villain who has the necessary back-story and sith-cred’.
    But you got me thinking…
Darth Vader’s backstory was very important to the OT, we did not know his story at the time, but we knew that he HAD a story and that it was important to the plot.
My point is that Vader became more important when Empire’ was named Ep V.
The fact that there was going to be a prequel confirmed our suspicion that Darth Vader is in fact the main character.
End result; Vader owns the screen, Prequels are made.
The same goes for Sheev Palpatine (still sounds weird), his undisclosed backstory gave him gravity.
Question is, will the new villain have that same quality?? Will the new villain deserve a prequel trilogy?? *fingers crossed…

  • November 27, 2014 at 4:19 am
    Permalink

Yes. If the villain is old, where is he in the time of the Clone Wars? In the time of the OT? And in the 30 years between ROTJ and TFA? If he is new, why is he a Sith and who are his parents? If he is the son of luke or han that would suck…

Actually you can if you have the right equipment, which is practically basic for home media.
    1. Computer
    2. Wi-Fi or Blue
    3. Newer Blue Ray player or game console with home media center.
    4. Large Screen TV, Wi-Fi (to avoid cables)

Link the computer to the TV via the Media Center and presto trailer on your HD tv.

Or you guys can join the new age and get a projector. Seriously I don’t know why people don’t realize they can set up their own home theater for less than $500 (the cost of a standard 32 in. HDTV) I have a Optoma HD projector, and if I didn’t want to spend the extra cash for a 120 in. screen…you can simply paint your wall white and shine it on your entire wall like I did for years. Yes its 1080p. I use it for my computer, ps4, and movies. ——It was a dream ever since watching Back to the Future 2 when I was a kid. In the 90’s…could you imagine actually talking to a real person on a massive TV in front of you like they were doing in the movie? I do it now 😀 …funny how that works. The technology always exists decades before it is released to the masses…if we assume this is true, then in 20 years we will have holographic TV’s, talking to holographic AI’s…etc.

    • November 27, 2014 at 8:22 am

Holographic might be a reality in 5 years or so actually… probably prohibitively expensive and limited content wise for some time… given that projection tech needs to catch up. (like content creators would need to have a reason to grade a film for holographic first if you know what I mean).

For 500 bucks you could get a pretty decent TV. I think unless if you have 3K the projected image won’t surpass TV quality at the same price margin… though you do get the increased size. For many projection can be really impractical… like if there is a lot of ambient light to deal with or if you can’t paint the surrounding walls dark grey.

Yes, just found the one on twitter, am I allowed to post it here?
Opens with backdrop stars and slow version of the main starwars them..Then two robots, really vintage looking that are walking through a forest in the evening. Then a shot of desert, I think tatooine with a huge star destroyer hovering above you. Music swells and then you here a voice whiepering “wake up”

THen a new music them and you see two people fighting with light sabres. You can;t see his face but one of the guys is definately luke, you inmediately recognize his fightingstyle, I got goosebumps. When the two sabres clash the music goes quiet again, I think it’s the force theme with flutes, you see a whole group of people struggling to walk through a storm with behind them, yes R2 and 3PO!
Then a robot hand holding hands with a human hand and then Rick ashley is doing his dance..My god it was amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!

This trailer is so highly anticipated. And if you browes through all the fan made trailers that are sometimes quit clever, it is really hard for JJ to come up with a clip that looks and feels original then just another teaser.

THat is actullay the thing I look forward the most right now, the way they will pull it off.

Having a bombastic score, a Ford, Hammil or Fisher voice over and then a soothinh peace of music to show some landscapes…It won’t work. Almost every scenario I can come up with will not be enough to please the crowed so I am really curious how JJ and his team figured this out, to make an awesome teaser in this day and age…

That said, I am a starwarsfan, born in 73..My entire childhood resolved around these movies, and I want to thank George Lucas for making these films and also a big Fuck you to all the complainers outthere. What are these guys even doing here ? I mean, I hate country music, I really do, but do you see me complaining on countrymusic forums? No..offcourse not, I respect the musicians and there fans, so please, instead of whining, find a place where you can be happy!
