New Star Wars Children’s Books to Reimagine the Original Trilogy in 2015!

sagaA video from the Official Youtube Channel for Star Wars was just uploaded, announcing a new line of childrens books coming summer 2015 that will reimagine the films of the original trilogy…

“The classic saga will come to life like never before through adaptations by bestselling children’s authors Tom Angleberger, Adam Gidwitz, and Alexandra Bracken.

With art by famed Star Wars concept artist Iain McCaig. Each of these celebrated authors will bring their contemporary, unique voice to the galaxy far, far away, bridging the multi-arc storyline in anticipation of the release of Star Wars: Episode VII.”

The original trilogy doesn’t need to be reimagined. The PT on the other hand… Seriously, can we just release the theatrical versions of those movies in a pristine format and move on to new things already?

Give Disney about 10 to 15 years and I bet they will remake Episodes 4 to 6

In 5 to 10 years the multi generational story will continue.

No they wont, if they were going to do that ..they never would of had the original cast back for Episode 7. BUT….it is a FACT that re-making the Prequels is a topic and has been discussed.

Yes it is but not by anyone with actual power to do anything about it. These realize that they’d just make the same films because they are perfect the way they are.

“Someone who calls it “Episode V” isn’t really in tune with the original trilogy.”

No they are just in tune with the entire saga which is I-VI and soon VII-IX.

If they don’t have characters from the past, then its not really a multi generational tale.
So the original cast now makes it that.
PT carried over to OT and now we have our ST.
It is a character arc and passing things down through the generations.
          It about Anthropology.
Old republic or what they will do with that will be through story telling, flashbacks or spinoffs.

I think the kids mind will be blown so much more if they actually saw the movies, if any kids read these books before they see the movies it will ruin the experience for them..

I read the giant Marvel comic just before I saw the first film when it first came out and it didn’t ruin anything when I was 11, I was so excited nothing was going to ruin it!!

“In this adaptation I’m really focusing in on the characters themselves. They’re so much more than the labels that they’re given. She’s so much more than just a princess, and he’s so much more than just a scoundrel.”

Spoken like a true female author.

Going out on a limb here; but I think most kids 15 and under won’t really fall in love with the Original trilogy if they saw it. I know a couple kids in that age range who said “the old” Star Wars movies are “boring” and the special effects look “crappy.” Kids these days have grown up on CGI their whole lives – if it doesnt meet their standard of “good special effects” and/or “too much talking/not enough action” they won’t like it. I think its an awesome idea that they will do these books and I’m really looking forward to them! Plus I’m sure the artwork will be fantastic!!!!

Not being too old myself, I’m kind of embarrassed with the way the rest of my “new generation” is acting, people nowadays talk CSI, I talk Columbo. I liked the prequel trilogy, until I started watching other movies. But the OT will always stick with no matter how many times I realize they’re kinda stupid, i’ll always love them!

My eight-year old’s ranking of the movies (and no, I haven’t tried to influence him though of course some PT disdain may have trickled down..

    1. Return of the Jedi
    2. The Empire Strikes Back
    3. A New Hope
    4. EP I
    5. EP III
    6. EP II

So why should we care whether we call it 5 or Empire? Either ways it looks cool, word-design aesthetically speaking. Episode V, Empire Strikes Back. There are worse roman numeral/subtitle combinations.
Not sure how the poster-design guy’s gonna handle Episode CDLXXIV (474) though :/

New Star Wars art from Master Illustrator Iain McCaig! Count me in!

Come on everyone! McCaig not only designed Darth Maul, he’s a lead concept designer for The Force Awakens!

    His art is exquisite!
