Star Wars Rebels Review: S01 E08 “Path of the Jedi”.

Rebels

After a short hiatus Disney has released the next episode of Star Wars Rebels: “Path of the Jedi” on their Disney XD app. Read our review after the jump…

Here’s a small excerpt from the review:

People complained that the Prequel Trilogy destroyed the mystical side of the Force. What they didn’t know is that couldn’t be FURTHER from the truth. Episodes like this and from the Clone Wars IMO further cement how mystical/magical the Force truly is. The visions that Ezra sees gives away that the Force is testing Ezra and by testing him also meaning that the Dark Side is in full effect. These visions might be similar to what Luke had faced,on Degobah, but…..

I loved it! Check out the sound of light saber at the end of the episode…kind of sounds like the new light saber from the Episode VII.

My second favourite of the run so far, after Spark of Rebellion. It was contained like theatre, portentous and the Jedi Temple interior felt heady and thick with menace due to the excellent lighting and shadows. Yoda had lots to say despite being a wispy projection of lights and I felt his presence added story value rather than just being a gimmick.

It gets a thumbs up from me. It kept me interested the whole time and I personally found Ezra’s light saber humorous, in a good way, and I think it fits perfectly.

I also like how the episode touches a bit on Kanan’s background and creates a bit of mystery there.

Yes. Kanan mentioned to Yoda about going on the wrong path and not wanting Ezra to do the same thing. I wonder what happened in his past.

Disney must really be desperate for ideas if they’re going to pick on Yoda… a character who is supposed to be HIDING, not intermingling with rebels. Why in the hell would he even converse with some nobody like Kanan?

If he’s one of the last of the Jedi, then I wouldn’t say he’s a nobody.

Luke Skywalker was the last of the Jedi….this cartoon is hogwash bullshit and should not even exist

Take it as I do – as a funny cartoon in a cartoon galaxy far away which has nothing to do with theMOVIE galaxy far away and you will enjoy it. I told it many times – everyone can choose his own cnon star wars galaxy and the alternate one where cartoon things happen and everybody happy 🙂 yoý can still enjoy this light show, you can have fun of this other galaxy Sheev etc……just because 30 years after some canon star wars events someone look in the far and says hey, starting now this character’ s first name iiiiiiiiis…….hey, starrting now back then not only Vader hunted down the Jedi, but there were also these clowns – lets name them Inquisitors, coz I really like medieval european history…..

If you read A New Dawn it states that Kanan completely rejected the Jedi and basically beacme like Ezra at the same age Ezra is now. He was a loner and not a very nice person.

It was really good episode. Maybe the best so far.

Only nitpick criticism. I wish Ezra didn’t behave so childish. His slingshot doesn’t help but he talks back a lot to kanaan, doesn’t focus on what he is being taught and the staple gun handle to his lightsaber makes it look a bit childish too.

But again let me stress that it was an AWESOME episode

I loved that it was so dark, I loved how Yoda spoke to both Kanaan and Ezra at the same time, loved the Jedi mysticism

You realize Ezra is a child, right? One who had no authority figures in his life for a long time as well.

I was super anti-Filoni after watching almost 5 seasons of the clone wars… but now after watching rebels I realize it wasn’t all his fault, Lucas was involved with that… I apologize to Filoni for saying that He sucked. While I’m not the biggest fan of rebels… it isn’t bad either. It’s a good tide over until Episode VII comes out. The animation quality is pretty decent for what it is compared to the clone wars.

The only real complaint I have is the scarce mediums with which to view the clone wars… I have to watch it on Amazon’s service which is a real glitch fest.

I agreed about Clone Wars. Its bad because of Lucas’s involvement. Countless episodes have me going “WTF”.

But for Rebels which I only managed to watch 4 episodes so far. I do like it a lot! Its just that is difficult to try to catch these on TV.

Ezra’s lightsaber looks quirky and that’s what I like about it. I like this show. It is not as good as TCW yet but I’m confident that it will be. Lothal is indeed a bit boring, also it doesn’t make much sense, that they stay in one spot for that long, given that they are being hunted by the empire.

…meanwhile, Pinewood is ready to start filming Spinoff 1 in two months (if rumors are true.) Why in the hell has nobody heard more casting rumors or plot details?!?!?!??

Maybe it’s tied to the ST in a way that would prevent them from being able to reveal any details… like what if it’s about the main villain or something along those lines?

They can’t be filming this early. The spin-off is due December of 2016 right? That would be almost two years after filming has wrapped up. I bet they start filming summer 2015 at the earliest.

Maybe the Star Wars fan fest in April will have casting details revealed.

I want a bounty hunter movie with the seedy areas of Coruscant. Kind of grey area bounty hunters/thieves that do a job that hurts someone much worse then themselves. The movie would be on at least three different planets though. Also, no force powers or lightsabers.

Filoni has already destroyed more than Lucas ever had in the PT with this…i find it odd that the same people who always hate on George are fucking embracing this POS cartoon……Hypocrates i say.

I tend to agree. Filoni adds crap in these cartons that don’t need to be. Myself I was pretty pisssed he dragged Yoda into this. But I will be honest.. I really have hated this cartoon. But I just watched this episode for the hell of it. and I absolutely loved this episode…Yoda giving him ther Kiber Crystal tho?? not so much….. that was pretty lame. Now that we know Kanan once walked the dark path, and we see the anger in Ezra..more and more I think Ezra has something to do with Episode 7 and he is a Sith.

It sucks I can’t get this show on line on Disney XD site because I live in another country and I have DisneyXD tv but they are so slow with airing new episodes.

Come on Disney how about a Rebels marathon
to catch up on the new episode?
