Oscar Isaac on J.J. Abrams’ Reaction After Harrison Ford’s Accident On The Force Awakens Set.
Back in June Harrison Ford’s left leg was broken in the injury he suffered on The Force Awakens set at Pinewood Studios. Luckly Ford recovered remarkably quickly and was back on set in no time. Now Oscar Isaac reveals J.J. Abrams’ reaction to the accident after hearing the good news that everything will be fine with Ford…

Correct, it was the reaction of good news and statement of appreciating life.

It is a positive statement about being thankful.
This makes perfect sense to me.
Remember how we all reacted when we first heard that Harrison had broken his ankle? I expect many of you got that same momentary sinking feeling in your gut that I got, wondering if it was going to turn the production completely upside down to have one of the main stars out with a bum leg for god knows how long.
Now, think of how much more intensely that must have been felt by everyone who was actually working on that picture, who had both their hearts and their livelihoods wrapped up in the project.
Sounds to me as though J.J. made damned good and sure to diffuse everyone’s panic as best he could. And from the way Isaac tells the story, it sounds like it worked pretty well.
It’s incredible how well things have worked out, but I was really hoping to catch a glimpse of that initial reaction to Ford’s injury.
I bet we’ll see it in the “making of” documentary that accompanies the Blu-Ray next year.

We all know that he selects his actors based on wether they laugh about his jokes on set. Thats why he choose talentless teen actors for Startrek instead of Patrick Steward.

Honestly… TNG is dead. The TNG movies killed TNG, and there is no going back, nothing will bring it back. No one will risk money on something that nearly killed the entire franchise. Meanwhile Abram’s made the franchise successful again, by turning the franshise into a more action oriented sci fi, than science fiction. I’m not saying science fiction is dead, Interstellar is proof of that, but you won’t see 11 sequels to Interstellar, most likely you won’t even see 1. OTOH, the next Star Trek is going forward.
It was JJ that killed Trek and turned it into yet-anothter-ironman-like action flick. No sole, no moral dilema, no utopia, no diplomacy, no character acting, no humor. Nothing that made Trek so different from the many other SciFy shows. TNG fans were happy with the TNG movies, they were like longer TV episodes. They just did not appeal to the average holywood action guy.
TNG Trek was not dead. There were two shows in the planning unitl JJ came up and rebooted the univers because he found it to complicated (well with his IQ).
It does not matter if there is no secon interstellar movie or no more JJ Trek movies, because they are just yet-another-action flick. Trek was different because it had a long complex storry arcs with evolving politics and some of the most complicated vilains ever generated (Dukat, Tomalok, Weyoun).
I like heterogeneity and choice – everything done by one director does not offer that.
JJ simply did not understand Trek so he chose to destroy it, “make it more like Starwars”. How arrogant. He introduced Apple logos to a social utopia. He showed us cadillacs driving through desert, when we wanted so see starships in space. Were was into darkness set mostly: Earth – how original.
The opening scence of Startrek 11 was the most pathetic scene I have seen in a long time. Horrid acting, farther-sacrefice-while-mother-giving-birth-on-comlink-during-space battle – how emotianlly retared does he think we are?
I agree, JJ’s trek was action packed and unintelligent, however, after watching it I said “This guy may know nothing about Star Trek, but he would make a great Star Wars movie”. I was happy when he got Star Wars later on. Also I agree with the other poster, Berman and Braga killed TNG, JJ at least gave us something to watch that still carries the banner.

According to the original article, this reaction came after they knew Ford would be okay: “Oscar tells HuffPostUK how JJ returned to the set the following day, once it was clear that Harrison would be okay, and started clowning around.”
And Oscar’s quote about not being terrified of anything is in reference to “expectations” for a new Star Wars film, not Ford’s injury. “If Oscar’s worried by the hype and expectation surrounding the return of ‘Star Wars’ to our screens, he’s hiding it well…”
I don’t understand what’s so hard to understand from the title and the article itself?
It should read: Reaction To Harrison Ford’s Prognosis (not Accident).
The title makes it sound like we will get the reaction that Abrams had to the actual accident as it happened, when it only says what he did after he heard Ford would be okay (which is said in the article, but can be missed if you are reading quickly). The problem is more with the original article, though you can make it clearer and take away the “sensational” aspect of the title as pointed out. It makes readers think they will read about some big on set reaction to Ford’s injury as it happened. It is bad sensationalist journalism (on their part).
The Oscar quote, as you quoted it, about not being terrified doesn’t have the original context. You make it look like he wasn’t bothered that Ford was injured.
I guess some people, not strong with the Force…couldn’t read the description…then the jump to the Huffpost quotes. As one continuous arcticle…..which it obviously was.

By the way, another great news: Mission Impossible 5 has been moved ahead for July 31 2015, leaving the Force Awakens without any notable competition in late December/early January.
This will result in even bigger box office records when TFA opens.

Would not have delayed anything with a double.
If your talking about before the accident, there would be no need if it was just Ford going up the ramp [assuming that is where it happened]. It wasn’t a stunt that I know of.
I think the article is pretty clear.
I kinda wish the movie wasnt happening now. Had faith while Lucas’s treatments were being used, but now I don’t know. Disney is an evil greedy company that will no dought F it up to some extent. Say what you will about George, hate him if you want, but it wasnt like he was directing this film. Maybe you didnt like the prequels, the directing was bad, non of the actors had done much acting in front of green screens at that time and none of em had ever done that much ADR work before which, if not done right will create the illusion of a horrid performance. Little Jake Lloyd had a ton of problems with the ADR work. Aside from all that, the story set up and execution of them was quite good. That is where I get worried. Without Lucas’s story input, the acting and directing may turn out to be kickbutt, but the story and execution of it could fall apart. There are only a few things left with star wars I would trust him with and thats one of em. Kasdan is on board, but remember, empire, jedi and raiders was a team effort of kasdan AND Lucas. This could easily become more expanded universe stuff, generic. Would you rather have a box of cheap knockoff cookies from the dollar store or the real keebler kind? lmao
