Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens:

Millennium Falcon’s door crushes Han’s foot. Han regrets the excessive use of practical effects. 😛

Han Solo pilots another plane. Millennium Falcon not having it…

Interesting. Was the Falcon actually at the Battle of Coruscant, though? or did we just see another YT-1300 in the background at the Senate landing pad?

From Wookieepedia’s page on the Millennium Falcon: “It was speculated that the Falcon would make an appearance in Revenge of the Sith to further tie the prequel trilogy to the original trilogy, and the ship did indeed make a cameo in the movie. At the beginning of one shot closing in on a docking bay on Coruscant, a YT-1300 freighter is seen flying in to dock. Lucas confirmed that it was the Millennium Falcon itself and not just some other YT-1300 freighter.[94]”

Unfortunately the citation leads to a defunct page, so we’ll just have to trust them on this.

It could be the real Millenium Falcon, owned by Lando Calrissian (or even before him) prior to Han Solo’s requisition of it.

Whoever did this has far too much time on their hands, but nice work anyway. 😉

If the Falcons commission date will stay at 60 BBY, that freighter will be aprox. 96 years old…giv´n take some years. Holy Bantha 😛

I`m a bit baffled as to why in all that time the designers/engineers of the YT-1300 never put forward more updated designs, a mark 2 version or second/3rd gen YT-1300 with all the latest upgrades – changed the shape slightly. In all those years with new advancements and discovery’s they kept the design exactly the same. Even in the teaser trailer the falcon is identical. It seems overly confident to keep the design the same forever, when rivals or enemy’s upgrade all their technology.

(P.S I`m just saying, from a new user perspective with no offense intended. But how come you made your cantina website/forum more overly complicated than it had to be ? its information over load I can`t take it all in. There`s like hundreds of places to click and subsections etc. I don`t even know where to start, the noob section does not help)

None taken. The forum software is actually pretty popular and it’s really pretty standard. Not sure what other message boards you’ve been visiting to say that.

When tech reaches a certain stage “the next model” may only be something in terms of cosmetics or taste. When you reach warp speed in a world of a thousand alien races there may not be a need to change what works unless you either want to mod your ship or re-purpose it for a use that it wasn’t originally intended for.

I agree. The Falcon was just a freighter, but Han made a few special modifications to it: weapons, shields, speed (.5 past light speed. I’m sure the YT-1300 wasn’t supposed to be that fast.

They did, you just haven’t seen them all in such a big galaxy.
Dash Rendar had a different model…different with similarities.
Type in Corellian ships in google images.
