Star Wars: The Force Awakens Merchandise to Hit Shelves on September 4!

Kylo Ren PackagingIt looks like the rumors were true – September 4 is the date that the floodgates of products based on Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens are officially opened.

From the official Star Wars Website:

The next generation of Star Wars toys, collectibles, books, and apparel is in range.

StarWars.com is thrilled to announce that Star Wars: The Force Awakens products will land in our galaxy on September 4, 2015, at 12:01 a.m. — “Force Friday” — with stores around the world opening their doors at midnight for a special celebration of all things Star Wars. It will be a day long remembered.

Fans wanting to be the first to get their hands on Star Wars: The Force Awakens merchandise can set their hyperspace and social media coordinates now: They will be able to visit their local retailer starting at midnight on September 4, and are encouraged to document their experience using the hashtags #ForceFriday and #MidnightMadness. A wide-range of products — from toys and collectibles, to books and comics, ebooks and apps, to apparel and lifestyle accessories — will be available at mass retailers and Disney Store locations worldwide, as well as on DisneyStore.com.

The packaging features both Kylo Ren and the First Order insignia. It looks as though the first wave of characters from The Force Awakens will probably make it out at this time, as well as several Journey To The Force Awakens books. Stay tuned to SW7N to hear about product announcements and more!

I know right, but still cool.

Fingers crossed the new John Williams score is among the merchandize.

A little early, I think, although it would be sweet. With the prequel soundtracks, they came out just under a month before the film release. So more likely the score will be out in November sometime.

No it’s not, I know it infuriates you to think otherwise, and I’ll agree it’s fucking stupid, but Jakku is still definitely a new planet.

George Lucas drew a lot of inspiration from Dune (Frank Herbert). Though I do think Jakku is a new planet I think it is worth the discussion. Spoiler…. The planet Arrakis (Dune) changes names at least a couple times.

Looks like Kylo Ren will dethrone Vader as the coolest looking villain.

Nah, can’t happen. Darth Vader has 40 years worth of cool points stacked up. Kylo has no chance. Although if he plays his cards right, he may match/ outrank Maul…

You mean Revan from KotOR will. Kylo’s look is nearly completely based off of him.

U can say that. But its not like the company is forcing fans to buy their product, the fans r physically making their own decision to buy the merchandise. That’s on them not the company

..Which probably means the first full trailer for the film will drop labor day weekend. That’s probably why Hamill said to just forget about it and go enjoy the summer movies.. more mystery box at play.

It never occurred to me, but Kylo Ren’s face really looks right at home on that package, perhaps more so than Darth Maul’s shouting mug, I could see buying something in that package…

He still looks like a scowling puppy that’s about to put C4 in someone’s car, but I’m kind of okay with that.

Great packaging! I can’t stand that orange-ish logo they’ve chosen to use recently, most associated with rebels. It just doesn’t work IMO.

Awesome, totally awesome. I grew up with the books of the expanded universe. They should be incorporating themes from those books in this movie. The reality is good and evil will never die, if they do there is no existence. It is about time that a new story has emerged. This movie will be totally off the hook.
