Promotional First Order Stormtrooper Poster Unveiled!
Twitter user Eric Patrick Cameron, AKA “TheSuperJedi” spotted this Star Wars promotional poster at with several First Order Stormtroopers at a nearby FYE store. There’s not really much else to say here, but be sure to click on the above image to see it in higher resolution.
You probably remember that a stormtrooper in the same pose was posted in the Celebration program back in April:

It’s 18th of December. The film is being released. There are still people with a false sense of superiority claiming that it’s not worth mentioning for some reason.
Did you miss the part where we exclusively reported on Nien Nunb and Admiral Ackbar a little over a week ago, or our exclusive report on how Ken Leung has a small role in the movie? Because I’d like to think those are pretty far from the bottom of the barrel!

It’s interesting that it’s so prominent though. I would have expected the Lucasfilm logo to be there and Disney copyright stuff in small print at the bottom. It’s interesting that they are putting such a large stamp on it.
I’m not into Marvel but I wonder if the Disney brand is so visible on their stuff?

This is probably for a store location or a Disney store. Marvel posters in some of those store have the Disney logo too.
I bet the actual poster and banners for theaters will just have the Lucasfilm logo. Same goes for the trailers and the film.
For the film, at the very end of the credits it will probably state it was release by Walt Disney Studios. Just like the end of some of the Marvel films (Iron Man 3).

That is not a bad artwork but it isn’t overwhelmingly great either. It’s nothing I haven’t seen a thousand times before. Sure the new armor looks kinda cool, but these are supposed to be the bad guys of the movie and I find it hard to be that facinated by ruthless killers. The Disney logo looks kinda weird on that one indeed. I guess because we are used to seeing it in combination with cute or cheesy artwork.

Stormrooper is amazing. this promotional poster is not bad but it’s the same photo we always see in simple modern posters. High quality photo in a colorful background.
I say again: it’s not bad, but I prefer some originality, good classic illustrations. Or digital… There are som people who uses digital artwork to create great environments.
I know it was inevitable, but the Disney logo really ruins this poster for me… They should try to make it as subtle as possible, otherwise it ruins the aesthetic of the picture. Preferably no logo at all. Also, what are the chances that this is a fake? Why would disney let one rogue poster find its way into an FYE store?

I seriously hope we won’t have to endure a Disney tag in front of the actual movie. I love Star Wars, but feel that Disney, like Fox before it, is a pretty terrible company. I know people disagree, and that’s cool. They’ve done some good things (and some absolutely horrible things).
While it won’t ruin a good film for me, I am hopeful they will allow the brand it’s own identity, similar to Marvel. It still makes me nervous seeing that ugly-ass swirly logo on an otherwise decent poster.

Obviously fake. Yes it is photoshopped reused art from celebration. Yes, it’s on an extremely dumb fake looking background. And yes, it is a lame copy of Ep 3 poster. Plus, the Disney logo would not be that big. FAKE.

I always experience an acidic reaction upon seeing the Disney logo. Having it over top of Star Wars continues to be an unpleasant experience.

I love Disney and am glad that they initiated this Star Wars re-boot. Did anyone notice that they seem to be coming out of a ship or At At in the back ground? Interesting.
I would absolutely LOVE to see a Mickey Mouse crossover with Star Wars. It would be the best!
Not sure if it’s real; I mean, it’s literally a paint-over of the Battlefront promo. But hey, if they sell it, I’m buying it. Don’t really care if it’s official or not.

They took the image from the celebration program and did some photoshop editing on it. Neither bad nor great, just catchy. Black & white over red always works.

Well, we’d all prefer that, yes. But since this is the way it’s gonna be, they might as well make it a little less obvious. I mean, how much more publicity does Disney really need?
Some will disagree with me, but the Disney-ishness (is that a word?) of both ‘Rebels’ and this poster seem to indicate that Disney plans to Disney-ize a series that already has it’s own vibe and fan-base.
I think they need to steer as far (far) away from this franchise as possible, creatively, or we’re looking at a rough decade for SW.
I personally find the vast majority of Disney movies to be squeaky-clean, artless garbage. I get that George Lucas wanted to entrust his well-established brand to another well-established brand- but they need to save their logo for ‘Tinkerbell’ sequels and other phony, empty, kiddie pablum.
Either that, or just bring in ‘Herbie, the Love Bug’ and ‘the Cat from Outer Space’, and let’s get this party started!

I think that what people are forgetting is that—yes, whilst Disney owns Lucasfilm—it’s ultimately Lucasfilm who’s making this film, and at the head of TFA is K.K., J.J., and Kasdan. Disney isn’t making this movie. What their track record is has no bearing on the quality to expect from Abrams and Kasdan. Besides, studios rarely mess with scripts when they’re already golden. Kasdan and Abrams are both excellent writers and storytellers (I point you to Star Trek and Silverado). Don’t expect Lucasfilm or Disney to “ruin” it.

What an ass-hat in a suit thinks is golden and what the rest of us think is golden is usually two very different things. Have you seen some of the garbage the big studios have released in the last few decades?
And studios OFTEN interfere with movies, especially when they are fronting the cash.
@Anon: Yes, and I fully realize that. But that’s not my point. What I meant was that when a writer presents a truly excellent script, almost everyone will recognize that; even the studio. That’s why some movies get 90% critic ratings and 90% user ratings. Even studios ignorant of story-telling recognizes a brilliant script.
