Rumor: Jiang Wen Joins the Cast of Rogue One.

Jiang WenChinese action star and director Jiang Wen is reportedly being sought out for a role in Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One. This rumor comes hot off of the trail of the rumor that Donnie Yen will be in Episode VIII.

From Yahoo! Singapore (via JediNews):

According to CRI News, Jiang reportedly will star in the upcoming spinoff, Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One. The news came a month after it was previously rumoured that Rogue One had been pursuing Chinese talent.

Wen has starred and directed in a number of action films, including Let The Bullets Fly. As mentioned above, there was an earlier report that Donnie Yen would be involved in Episode VIII, which also stated that filming for Rogue One would begin this month. Given that set leaks from Rogue One just popped up a few days ago, it looks like at least one part of that report is true.

Get on the band wagon & drink the kool-aid, Scotty. You’re an America hating liberal. Would you care to explain what is so refreshing? I’ll answer for you. You’re a white male whom has been taught to despise white males & it’s so refreshing to see the absence of the evil white male in 21st century Star Wars movies.. That’s what you meant to say, right? I’m not a racist in any way shape or form, folks, but I am sick & tired of the leftists on this site continuously having orgasms over the diversity of these movies. Stop YOUR racism that is currently being directed at white America!

Wow. I’m loving the talented diversity I’m hearing from Rogue One’s cast.

I just wish we got a 2nd female actor rumor. It’s starting to look like a rainbow sausage fest.

I also think Rogue One should have a team of talented meercats and chimps in acting roles, just for diversity.

God, you are such a pathetic, limp d*** for simply the way you think. Let’s make the entire cast transgender…Would that make you o happy? Who the f*** raises people like you??? …”male bad, female good, white male worst of all…”

Off-topic. Having just watched the new terminally boring (and overly complicated plot) Terminator film, same old ingredients including the tried and much tested love interest, boring slugging-it-out, same old CGI movement etc, I wonder if anyone can make an interesting film anymore. The last film I remember seeing which peaked my interest was District 9. Not much else before or after that has interested me. I really hope all the Star Wars films don’t fall into the boring, tried-and-tested formula’s which so many other films seem to adhere to.

      Agreed.

      And it’s “piqued”, not “peaked”.

I hear ya. And even District 9 ended up being virtually unwatchable for me due to the spastic shakey-cam nonsense. That really ticked me off, because I could tell that there was a good, potentially classic movie under all that pointless jittering.

China is second big market now, actually Star Wars would be better if more Asian actress would be casted.

It would be better for Disney cause they’ll get more money, but it wouldn’t be better for SW if they chose him only because he’s Chinese.

Or Ken Watanabe as the leader of The Knights of Ren…

“The Empire’s time has come. Like the Old Republic or the Sith Empire before it the imperium has become a breeding ground for suffering and injustice. It is beyond saving and must be allowed to die. This is the most important function of the Knights of Ren. It is one we’ve performed for centuries. The Empire… must be destroyed.”

Haha Piqued and peaked – interesting, never knew that
You see the sort of stuff we are doing now!
We are bored, give us some exciting news.

Good point about district 9 and where the hell is the follow up?!? I thought his mate was coming back to give him a special alien headache tablet or something for his condition…
I know these films will be special!!!! And once again Star Wars will raise the bar for movies

I sort of liked District 9’s direction, but I thought its storytelling was a bit heavy handed. The action was way too fast-paced and the apartheid government control message was a bit too “in-your-face”. There wasn’t a whole lot of relief to balance things out, it’s definitely an intense movie. Whereas you compare it to films like Hotel Rwanda, which feature rather similar subject content, and D9 falls a bit short. Even Hotel Rwanda had some rather cleverly used “comic” relief from the tension, such as the scene where Don Cheadle has a “date” with his wife while violence can be heard echoing in the distance, as well as a more wide-scale message about humanity’s ignorance of evil – which is actually turned into a plot-point where Don Cheadle commisions people to “Shame the international community” into lending them help.
So I think Hotel Rwanda did well by making it about humanity in general as opposed to just purely focusing on mass-murder.
District 9 is comparatively shallow IMO, showing Evil in gratuitous gruesome detail, but doing jack-zero is showing what is Good.
Whereas Hotel Rwanda, while showing the full horror of Evil, presents the force of Good as well.
So for this reason, I don’t really care for District 9,
what does this have to do with Star Wars?
      um…. ………

    To plonker in a hat….
Relax and allow people to talk about whatever they like, I can see why district 9 is relevant to Star Wars
It’s a movie, and there are aliens and space ships in it
    End of?!

I would love to see Mark Rylance in a Star Wars movie – he would play a great First Order general/ Villain. And he is English and us English always play good Villains.

The Star Wars Battlefront III beta will begin a month before the game s release and give players the chance to play as Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. Heroes sometimes have to deal with far more than just a lone villain.
