Well, To be fair – Star Wars is on it’s SEVENTH film (eight if you count Clone Wars) whereas Hunger Games is only on it’s fourth. SW is also the first in a new trilogy after many felt burned by the PT where HG is supposed to be the “last” one even though they are working on a prequel. JL is hot right now too while most of the cast in SW are unknowns. YA adaptations are the new thing too and let’s be honest, There are very few younger Star Wars fans who’s parents/family have not indoctrined them into it already. And judging by the trailers, There’s really not anything “new” in TFA – More dogfights, firefights, troop formations etc. Wasn’t like the prequels where we were promised original action scenes ala a three way duel, The Clone Wars, and a Jedi massacre of children.

I’d gladly be okay with fewer epic scenes in this new one so long as it’s a strong story with good dialogue and acting but I’d at least like to see something that we have NOT already seen in other episodes which doesn’t seem to be the case with this one…..at least so far.

I tend to think the new trilogy will in many ways parallel the OT in terms of general themes/conflicts, even though the characters and their background may be different. What makes the new trilogy more exciting than the prequels is that we literally don’t know what is going to happen. In the prequels, there were some prior open questions like how Anakin became a Jedi and later turned to the dark side, who Luke’s and Leia’s mother was, or how the Republic and the Jedi order fell. Note though that all questions related to “how” things happened and not “what” was going to happen (we already knew that latter part).

My big question is if it will be like the OT in terms of being for everyone or it will be like the PT in that each one gets more mature? Or will it start out mature and get sillier? I really don’t see Disney being concerned with making serious films considering how goofy many of their recent Marvel films have been which are akin to big budget sitcoms. I just hope there is one great episode that can stand proudly with Empire and my money is in VIII for that one due to Johnson and being able to dive right in the story.

is anyone else extremely excited that they announce they are going to have Claudia gray the author of lost stars on next week’s episode I’ve only read after math and lost stars in the new canon but I can’t get over how good lost stars was I’m extremely excited to hear what Claudia gray has to say about both lost stars and the force awakens. I hope they ask if she’s going to make a sequel to this book because her characters have become to my favorite Star Wars characters ever and would love to see them in new books and possibly in the force awakens itself. this is a bit off topic but on collider movie talk they answered my email question pertaining to Leonardo DiCaprio being in the prequel trilogy as Anakin Skywalker I was so excited that they pick my email. My question to you guys is do you think Leonardo DiCaprio would have made the prequel trilogy better and could you see him in the future Star Wars movie or is he too famous for you guys. I think he’s such an incredible actor that he could play any type of role in a Star Wars movie personally I would love to see him as a sith or a member of the Knights Ren. also with the rumors of Luke in communication with his father as a force ghost it would be so cool if DiCaprio was the actor who played Anakintheir dialogue and conversation would be riveting in my opinion.

Sorry this is off topic again but I have been wondering do you guys think it is public knowledge that Leia and Luke are the children of Darth Vader and if so do you think they would get back lash for that fact. for example people may not trust the children of Darth Vader and want them gone dr. possibly one of the reason why Luke is in hiding

Personally I don’t think it will be common knowledge in the sequel trilogy universe that Luke and Leia are Vader’s children. In fact, I believe that has been kept a secret. That’s just my opinion though.

I think they would want to keep it a secret Princess Leia political rivals would use that against her in other people would just say how could we ever trust the daughter and son of Vader even though Luke is believed to have killed the Emperor and Vader by most people in the galaxy if my memory serves me correctly
